For Every Musician

​

I am proud to be your General Secretary.

​

Since I was elected in 2022, I have been your strong advocate in Parliament, across the trade union movement and at the negotiating table.

​

We have undertaken successful industrial action ballots and won campaigns to improve pay, conditions and save jobs.

​

We have recovered, collected and distributed record sums of money for members; £3million in 2025.

​

I pledged to ensure that all members are represented equally by the Union; wherever they’re based, however they make music and whatever their background. And we are changing.

​

Membership has grown significantly.

​

We are a union today that members can be truly proud of. That is why I am seeking your support for my re-election.

 

I will continue to fight every day for a better deal for musicians. I will battle the threats posed by Generative AI and continue to promote the importance of music education, arts funding, touring and fair music streaming royalties.

 

In the next five years, I pledge to put more power into members’ hands. Through increased member activism, we will build greater leverage in all musicians’ workplaces.

Finally, I know the cost of living crisis is hitting hard. Next year, I will increase the MU Benevolent Fund grants with money from our financial reserves.

​

I want to make musicians’ lives better. After all, that is what the MU was founded for.
